The Mt. Lebanon Community DC (CDC) was established in 2006, under the leadership of Pastor H. Lionel Edmonds, Pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. It was Pastor Edmonds vision to enhance local civic life by developing affordable housing within the  immediate area, educating the underserved about health and wellness, job training  and workforce development. The Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church purchased the historic apartment building known as The Oakmont, a crack infested building located directly across the street from the Church. The Church later sold the Oakmont to the CDC for it’s first multi-use affordable housing development, with offices for small business, a training facility, and neighborhood community space for meetings and small gatherings.

Since its founding, the CDC – worked with the church and local neighborhood partners to provide job training, computer education, and life-skills training to disadvantaged members of the community, particularly in the distressed Shaw and Northwest One neighborhoods.
